Concerts

Bath Camerata is available to perform bespoke a cappella programmes or to sing as the chorus with an orchestra. The choir is renowned for performing in any genre, including large-scale works, contemporary classical, jazz and close-harmony.

A cappella programmes can be tailored to suit a theme, composer, genre or period. Examples include:

Cycles of Life – Brahms Requiem and Jonathan Dove The Passing of the Year
Summertime – music for a summer’s afternoon, including lighter repertoire
They Are At Rest – an Armistice Day programme of words and music
Architecture in Music – a programme built around Morton Feldman’s Rothko Chapel, with other works by Xenakis, Cage & Glass, featuring solo viola and percussion
Camerata Christmas – each year Bath Camerata offers a Christmas concert, which can be serious, light-hearted, or a mixture of the two!

Premieres

Contemporary music is central to Bath Camerata’s programming and the choir has premiered numerous works, including new compositions by Sir James MacMillan, Giles Swayne, Stuart Hancock, and Ed Hughes. Bath Camerata has been commissioned to make a number of premiere recordings by composers in a variety of styles and genres, including John Featherstone’s Te Deum, of which the choir also gave the world and French premieres in 2017.
