Announcing our new Musical Director – Benjamin Kirk!

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Benjamin Kirk as the new Musical Director of Bath Camerata

Benjamin began his singing career as a chorister at Ripon Cathedral, in 2001. After finishing Christ’s Hospital school in 2011 Benjamin moved to Tallinn, Estonia, to begin studying Choral Conducting at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, under Tõnu Kaljuste. Thus began a love affair with Baltic, Nordic, and Russian choral music that Benjamin is committed to sharing with audiences around the world.

Benjamin won 3rd Prize at the 2019 World Choral Conducting Competition in Hong Kong, and is the Musical Director of the Cecilian Singers in Leicester. He is a Guest Conductor with the NFM Choir in Wrocław, Poland, after directing his first unaccompanied project Blessed Love in Wrocław in May, 2021. In November 2021 Benjamin was appointed Musical Director with Leeds Guild of Singers.

As a chorus master, Benjamin has prepared some of the world’s leading choirs, including the Swedish Radio Choir, the French Radio Choir, and the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir.

Benjamin is looking forward to this exciting new chapter directing Bath Camerata, and will be working with us from January 2022.

Our outgoing Musical Director, Benjamin Goodson, will continue his relationship with the choir in the newly created role of Principal Guest Conductor, alongside his role as Chief Conductor of the Netherlands Radio Choir.
