The Good Friday Concert – Beyond the Night Sky CONCERT POSTPONED

Bath Camerata returns to Wells Cathedral to give its 33rd annual Good Friday concert in a programme curated for the occasion by musical director Benjamin Goodson. The concert features spiritual and mystical works inspired by the night sky. These pieces will form the basis of Bath Camerata’s next recording, an ongoing project to collaborate with and offer a platform to Britain’s finest living composers.

In the concert’s second half, the choir sings Vaughan Williams’ popular Mass in G minor, a piece whose inspiration lies clearly with the renaissance music of Tallis and Byrd, here reinterpreted through the lens of the English pastoral tradition. Written for double a cappella choir and soloists, the piece is full of rich romantic harmonies and long lyrical lines.
