New Appointment – Musical Director

After a detailed recruitment process which involved long-lists, short-lists, interviews, auditions and voting, we are delighted to announce that Robert Brooks has been appointed as the new Musical Director of Bath Camerata.

 

Robert is a conductor, arranger, composer and baritone based in London. As well as his work with Bath Camerata, he is the musical director of Cambridge Chorale, ITV Voices and Libricini, and is a guest conductor for the National Youth Choir and London Youth Choirs.

 

Robert grew up in the Barbican, where he attended Junior Guildhall, before becoming a chorister at New College, Oxford. He began conducting at the University of Manchester, where he studied with Matthew Hamilton and Justin Doyle, directed the chamber choir Ad Solem, and was a member of Genesis Sixteen.

 

Since then Robert has conducted numerous choirs and ensembles and enjoys a growing reputation for the inventiveness and quality of his choral arranging. His compositions and arrangements have been premiered and recorded by the National Youth Choir, the Exon Singers, Icosa Chamber Choir, the King’s Men and many others.

 

When asked about his new role with Bath Camerata, Robert said:
